Artist Statement

Ceramic artist and small batch potter Brigid Sundborn creates functional work for the home and garden under the banner of Sundborn Ceramics with a focus on shared centrepieces such as serving bowls, vases and planters, as well as the most personal vessel – the cup. Sustainability and quality steers production methods and the choice of materials.  Brigid's continued development of ideas through the exploration of form and function results in an ever changing and evolving practice.

Balance is realised in each object through the interplay between clay body, glaze and form.  Every piece is unique, a manifestation of a moment in time and an expression of the character of the maker. There is a quietness but also a vitality expressed in Brigid's work.  Many potters past and present have influenced her work but Scandinavian and Japanese aesthetics are most noticeable.
